I experienced a musical creative burnout (and an energy burnout, to be honest).
I stopped composing for a few years, stopped playing anything at all. I traded this creative outlet for others, tried writing, drawing, turning ideas into reality in smaller forms.
I feel like music can sometimes be more overwhelming because it requires more disciplines (writing, melody, concept, visuals), and sometimes I’m focused on one aspect rather than another. With the lack of energy I was feeling, there was no way I could keep working on my Demising Faith project.
But, alas, that was a bit of laziness involved too… These are silk excuses that keep me comfortable, and I think it’s time to break out of that cocoon.
I’ve started thinking about Demising Faith’s first album again.
With the first EP, I started this electronic project focused on a mixture of different ideas, centered around existential philosophies. This album will follow the same lines, but with a more consistent sonic direction. The Detached Signature EP was a very broad sound exploration, and I want to keep discovering new ideas, but in a more cohesive way. I want it to be an album, not a compilation.
I’ll be keeping a log of the projects development in my personal webpage here: https://luis.zip/series/keeping-faith/
